5 Butter Yellow Outfits That Prove It’s Still The Colour Of The Summer

It’s no secret that the fashion world is a fickle beast. One minute it’s all camo capris and utilitarianism, the next it’s Regency style Bridgerton-core. But despite the ever-turning trend wheel we all find ourselves strapped to, butter yellow has done the near-impossible: it’s escaped the microtrend scrap heap.

Arguably, the new neutral (alongside leopard print, obviously), butter yellow is a subtle way to show you know what’s up – that you’ve moved on from Barbie pink, but you’re not exactly a Rick Owens goth either. Sometimes it’s nice to add a pop of colour, even if that colour is the palest shade in the world. But hey, while the sun’s still shining, why not switch up your black and white basics for something a little more sunshine-y?

Everyone’s worn it by now – the Princess of Wales, every Kardashian-Jenner, even Timothée Chalamet at the Oscars (a welcome break from his swagged-out press tour wardrobe and accompanying Lime bikes). It’s a soft, comforting hue that makes everything feel just a bit more golden and bearable. After giving a sneak peek of her debut collection via Chalamet, Sarah Burton gave the colour her stamp of approval on the Givenchy runway, with the notoriously tasteful Toteme following suit, along with Chloé and Chanel.

Thankfully for the fans, butter yellow isn’t going anywhere. Here are five outfits that prove the street-style set is still making it work.
