Kandi Burruss has joined the previously announced Brian Anthony Moreland on the producing team of the upcoming revival of August Wilson’s “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone.” The drama, directed by Debbie Allen, will star Taraji P. Henson and Cedric “The Entertainer” and will bow on Broadway in spring 2026 at a Shubert Organization-owned theater to be announced.

This announcement marks a continuation of the longstanding producing collaboration between Burruss and Moreland; the duo has been part of the producing teams of “Thoughts of a Colored Man” as well as revivals of “Othello,” “The Wiz” and “The Piano Lesson,” the latter of which was also written by Wilson. Burruss made her onstage Broadway debut replacing in “Chicago.” Beyond the Rialto, Burruss is Grammy Award-winning founding member of the 1990s musical group Xscape and is known for her tenure on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” Burruss was honored with the Drama League’s 2024 Gratitude Award.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the producing team of ‘Joe Turner’s Come and Gone’ which will mark my fifth Broadway show,” Burruss said in a statement. “Eternal gratitude to the team as I look forward to being a part of this journey and can’t wait for people to witness the greatness that is Taraji P. Henson and Cedric ‘The Entertainer’ on the Broadway stage.”

Part of Wilson’s “Pittsburgh Cycle” plays, “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone” takes place in 1911 at a boarding house, which serves as a refuge for Black travelers during the Great Migration. Proprietors Seth and Bertha Holly welcome into their home Herald Loomis and his daughter Zonia, who are on a quest to reunite with Loomis’ lost wife.
